My Travel Story
- Born & raised in San Francisco Bay Area, California.
- Attended university and worked in Los Angeles, California.
- Second generation Vietnamese American.
- Attended graduate school in Brighton, England.
In the summer of 2005, I took off on the trip of a lifetime and I’ve been addicted ever since. That summer, I embarked on my first trip abroad on my own to London where I started a study abroad program in Political Science that would take me through the cities of Brussels, Amsterdam, and Paris. After my study abroad program was finished, I backpacked around Europe for several more weeks. That’s when I knew I had fallen in love with Europe and traveling.
Since then, I’ve mixed jobs in the states with vacation time, along with a one year stint in Brighton, England for a graduate school program. Now, 43 countries, 6 continents, and 32 American states later, I’m still as excited as ever when I get to travel. I’m the happiest when I’m traveling or have plans to travel. The wanderlust is something I can’t escape – the more I learn about and see the world, the more I realize how amazing it is. I’d love for you to join me on this wandering journey to all parts of the map.
Where did the idea of the Map Wanderer come from?
Well, let’s start off with my obsession over maps. I love, love, love them! I think they’re beautiful and interesting and the way different artists render maps is fascinating. Everywhere I travel to, I make sure to get maps as part of my souvenirs. I love following directions and figuring out maps to get around, especially equipped with a compass. Anyway, I always imagined myself “wandering” in the world, and what better way to incorporate that and my love of maps. So there, the Map Wanderer was born. 🙂

Why do I want you to come here to MapWanderer.com?
This space is where my love of maps and travel come together. I want to be able to share my passion for photography and traveling to hopefully inspire you with the beauty out there in the world (especially to get you to go out there and travel!). In addition, with my background in International Relations, I want to be able to create a space to talk about my personal projects and cool organizations that I have had the privilege to be a part of in my life goals of making a positive difference in the world.
Thanks for the recent visit to/follow of my blog. It led me here and I’ve enjoyed spending some time catching up on your entries covering the past several months.
Not incidentally, I share your love of maps. I’ve been fascinated with them since I was a little kid and, to a greater or lesser extent, remain so today.
Thanks for visiting and for the nice comment! Yay, another fan of maps 🙂
